NEVER WORRY ABOUT GETTING LOST ON CAMPUS AGAIN

Getting lost on the first day of school is a fear shared by many, from elementary to college students. Now, as a result of a cooperative effort between the Collin College and Google Maps, there really is an app for that.

The Google Maps app will now lead Collin College students and visitors directly to their destination. The free app details the outdoor and indoor setups of the Preston Ridge, Central Park and Spring Creek Campuses and the Collin Higher Education and Courtyard Centers.

Students Lee Grimm and Jacque Bussey said the new update, available on a variety of mobile devices, including iPhones, iPads and Androids, is a fantastic improvement that makes an impact.

District Vice President of Administration Ralph Hall said the new update on the Google Maps app provides students and visitors greater ease in finding their way around each of the college’s properties.

“The maps will now show the location of all classrooms, by number, and all offices by floor, “ Hall said. “Students and visitors only need to enter the name and city of the campus in the app.”

“Taking courses at several different campuses, I often have trouble finding my way around, “ Grimm explained. “Having a map of the campus to guide me exponentially eases the stress of starting the semester in a new place.”

Bussey emphasized, as a student, Google Maps is already a part of his everyday life, as he uses it to find restaurants or other places he meets friends to hangout or study.

“I have witnessed students come to campus looking for a classroom that was actually at a different campus,” Bussey said. “With this app, students no longer need to ask someone for help. Instead, they now have the power to find it for themselves.”

Google Maps can be downloaded via a devices’ app store.
