DAYS OF DANCE BEGIN AT COLLIN COLLEGE

Collin College’s dance department is hosting the Summer Dance Festival for students of all ages to improve their skills.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, July 14 – Friday, July 18 at the Preston Ridge Campus. Students ages 14 to adult are invited to participate.

“This dance festival is a wonderful way to experience Collin College’s dance program,” said Collin College Professor and Chair of Dance Tiffanee Arnold. “The festival is a non-competitive environment which allows each dancer to work on specific technique and performance abilities as they relate to their dance experience.”

Students ages 14 to adult may attend and the cost is $100-$125 for the festival which includes five days of dance classes, lunch on Friday and a commemorative T-shirt.

Dancers can customize the festival experience to suit their interests. Classes taught by Collin College faculty are available in Pilates, yoga, ballet, modern, jazz and ballroom.

In addition to the festival, the dance program offers numerous guest artist master classes, special workshops and other free dance seminars throughout the year. Previous guest artists include Battleworks Dance Company, Cheryl Chaddick Dance Theatre and the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company.

Dancers who have trained at Collin College have successfully transferred into prestigious dance programs such as Columbia College Chicago, The Ohio State University, The University of Oklahoma, Point Park University, Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University.
