Collin College is strengthening partnerships with Texas Tech University and Baylor University through pre-admission and transfer agreements.

“Texas Tech University strives to provide opportunities for all students seeking degrees in higher education,” said Dr. M. Duane Nellis, Texas Tech president. “Extending our reach across the state and partnering with a great institution like Collin College furthers our commitment to offering a convenient alternative in obtaining a Texas Tech degree. We are excited about this partnership and look forward to the future with Collin College.”

Texas Tech becomes the fifth university at the Collin Higher Education Center, where partner institutions offer junior- and senior-level college classes as well as master’s and doctoral programs.

In addition, Collin College and Baylor University have created a formal Baylor Bound transfer agreement that will help students transfer more easily between the two institutions and expand educational opportunities for young people all across Texas.

Baylor is creating 10 Baylor Bound partnerships with strong Texas community colleges over the next five years. The Baylor Bound program will serve highly motivated Collin College students who, upon meeting the program’s criteria, will transfer to Baylor toward the goal of completing their baccalaureate degrees. Students will be able to participate in Baylor Bound at Collin starting in the fall of 2016, with the intent to transfer to Baylor in the fall of 2017.

“No single factor influences the professional success of an individual more than a college education, and the Baylor Bound agreement was created to simplify the path to a degree,” said Interim District President Dr. Colleen Smith. “This partnership is evidence of a shared commitment by both Collin College and Baylor University to help local students succeed.”

Students may declare their intent to transfer to Baylor by submitting the Baylor Bound application prior to enrolling at Collin or while enrolled as a full-time student.
