COUGAR ATHLETICS HAS STRONG PAST, BRIGHT FUTURE

The University of Texas Longhorns. Texas Tech Red Raiders. Collin College Cougars?

It may seem like a stretch to some, putting Collin College’s name alongside some of the big names in Texas college sports, but you might be surprised how well-known Collin College’s athletic success is in colleges and universities around the country. The Cougars and Lady Cougars are perennial recruiting grounds for Division I schools from as far away as California and Virginia.

With all of the athletic competition in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, it is easy to see how Collin College could be lost in the shuffle, but the college’s tennis teams have racked up nine national titles (five men’s and four women’s) and have been home to more than 70 NJCAA All-Americans.

The Lady Cougars basketball team finished their 2015-16 season ranked 12th in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association, rolling up a school record of 26 wins.  And the men’s basketball team reached No. 2 in the national rankings in the 2003-04 season, one of 20 times the team breached the national Top 20.
