Leadership Camp Boat Races
Campers compete in "boats" of their own design, racing in teams dragging one rider around an obstacle course of people spraying them with water guns.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP CAMP: MAKING MISSION IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE

(Above) Students pilot their “boats” in a team-building exercise at the LEAD Camp two years ago.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to learn leadership and teamwork skills at the 2017 LEAD Student Leadership Camp held at the Prothro Center at Lake Texoma, Friday, Aug. 4. Expect team challenges, secret missions and new connections.

Dun-dun-dun-dun-dah. Dun-dun-dun-dun-dah. Bu-na-na! Bu-na-na! (You’ll have to imagine the music.)

Designed in part by students, the LEAD Student Leadership Camp is an annual all-day event organized to reinforce leadership skills. The day will include team challenge rooms, team building games, inspirational speeches and fun all around.

In addition to activities, campers will have the chance to learn more about the Leadership Empowerment and Development (LEAD) and Leadership Development Institute (LDI) programs at Collin College, both of which are devoted to immersive leadership skills training. LEAD has a co-curricular focus, while LDI is an academic program that mixes core classes with leadership education.

The camp is open to all students enrolled in Collin College for fall 2017. Participants must meet the Collin College academic class/course registration and payment deadline of 8 p.m. , Wednesday, Aug. 2.  Please note: CougarWeb academic class/course registration and payment will NOT be available on Aug. 3.

All participants must register for camp via the OrgSync event page (https://orgsync.com/139660/events/1920098/occurrences/4463722) and submit the registration and a liability waiver form for camp.

Transportation will be provided by Collin College via charter buses. All camp participants must travel with the college on the buses, going and returning. Students must check in at 6:30 a.m. at the Central Park Campus, 2200 West University Drive. Students must present a photo ID (valid Texas driver’s license, Texas ID card or Collin College ID card).

Participants are expected to abide by the Collin College Student Code of Conduct. Students approved to go to camp will receive more information closer to the date of camp.

As always, should you or any of your I.M. Force be caught at the camp, you will have a great time. This article will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck.
