Texas Rangers Train at Collin College

Twenty-six Texas Rangers attended training sessions at the Public Safety Training Center in McKinney, Nov. 26-30.

The rangers took part in shooting incident reconstruction training. Although this type of training has been offered in other parts of the state, this is the first time it has been conducted in Collin County or in a college setting like that offered by the PSTC.

“(Collin College was) able to provide a state of the art facility with classrooms as well as an indoor firearms range that provided an optimum teaching and learning environment,” said Lonny Haschell, public information officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

This is the first training session the PSTC has hosted for the Texas Rangers, although the facility has been the site of training for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and several other law enforcement agencies.

Law Enforcement Academy Director Scott Donaldson said this was the largest Texas Ranger training group of its type ever in Collin County to his knowledge.
