February 18, 2019 – Experience one of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory in a whole new way as Collin Theatre Center presents “Footloose: The Musical,” March 5-10 in the John Anthony Theatre of Collin College’s Plano Campus.
In this first-ever collaboration between Collin College’s Dance and Theatre departments, a new kid in town encounters a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth. The heartfelt story that emerges is one of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
Based on the movie musical that captured the nation’s attention and set to the rhythm of its Oscar- and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, “Footloose: The Musical” celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people and guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.
