Collin College’s Fine Arts programs will close out the fall semester with programs for every taste. Enjoy dance, music, art, or theatre performances at the Plano Campus (Spring Creek) throughout November and December.

Dance Fusion
Nov. 8-9 at 7 p.m.
John Anthony Theatre

Hosted by Collin Dance Ensemble, the student dance company for Collin College, the Dance Fusion concert will host innovative professional dance companies from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. This concert will expose audience members to the greater dance community and allow student dancers to share the stage with professional artists. Tickets: $10-15. Click here to purchase.

This end of semester dance concert features all Collin College dance students performing in a variety of dance genres including modern, jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, and ballroom. OneSound Pop A Cappella

Fresh off their success at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella semifinals, OneSound will wow the audience with their unique arrangements and choreography of current pop songs and hits from the past. Free Admission.

 

Symphonic Wind Ensemble
Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform a fall concert of traditional and contemporary wind band music. Free Admission.

 

Guitar Ensembles
Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
Plano Campus (Spring Creek) C104

The guitar ensemble will feature a small group of guitarists performing traditional classical repertoire, plus new works written and arranged for this ensemble. Free Admission.

 

Expressions Vocal Jazz and Jazztet
Nov. 22-23 at 7 p.m.
John Anthony Theatre

One of the original ensembles founded at Collin in 1985, this select vocal group performs both jazz and Latin standards, and always enjoys singing contemporary arrangements. Expressions will perform with their amazing rhythm section. Free Admission.

 

Honors Voice Recital

The Collin College Voice Department presents a beautiful evening of music featuring the best young singers from the classical and commercial voice program. The Honors Voice Recital showcases the solo achievements of our classical and commercial voice students from Mozart to jazz standards. Free Admission.

 

Chamber Choir and Keyboard Ensemble

Come out and hear beautiful music performed by Collin’s Chamber Choir and Keyboard Ensemble. This fall they are joining forces to present a concert which will feature both traditional choral and piano repertoire, as well as some holiday music. Free Admission.

 

New Music Ensemble

The New Music Ensemble will present a concert of original works by Collin College student composers focusing on contemporary experimental music for acoustic instruments and voice, interactive electronics and video, as well as mixed media. Free Admission.

 

Solo Guitar Concert

Students enrolled in private lessons will perform solo guitar music from various historical style periods. Free Admission.

 

Commercial Voice Showcase

Sit back and tap a foot as the Commercial Voice students at Collin College present the culminating performances of their applied vocal studies with a combo of excellent musicians. Free Admission.

This concert will feature the Collin Big Band and small ensemble jazz combos with works from multiple styles including swing, bebop, fusion, and Latin. Free Admission.

Cinderella Panto

Black Box Theatre

Take the timeless tale of a good-natured girl surrounded by spoiled and stupid stepsisters and a cruel and conniving stepmother who plot to deny her happiness, add a fairy godmother with “a degree in organizing girly nights out” and mix liberally with a cast of crazy supporting characters and you have this pantomime take on “Cinderella.” This lively show reimagines the classic fairy tale with a few modern twists, a lot of laughs, and a sizeable helping of crowd participation. Fun for the whole family, “Cinderella Panto” makes an excellent winter treat for parents and children alike. Tickets:

The Stokes Haitian Art Collection

The Stokes Haitian Art Collection will feature works in a range of styles and formats. Sculpture, painting, and mixed-media will be displayed in this group exhibition featuring creations from artists of a Haitian background.

 

Collin College Student Open Exhibition

This annual exhibition features artwork by students who have taken art classes in the Fine Arts Division of Collin College. The diversity of media and styles makes this show a unique opportunity for students to display their art and for the public to view artists as they grow.
