Tennis is underway and basketball is right around the corner. Come out and support Cougar Athletics with free admission for students, staff and faculty.

Cougar Tennis kicked off its fall schedule with the Collin College Invitational in mid-September and traveled to Tyler for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regionals later that month. Cougar Tennis will host the Collin Open Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13 at the Maureen Connolly Brinker Center Court at the Plano Campus. Entry is free and there is plenty of covered seating at the courts to accommodate anyone who wants to see the men and women’s teams in action.

The teams will travel to New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M. the following week to close out the short season.

Basketball tips off with its first home exhibition games in mid-October. Both teams are coming off of strong seasons and hope to improve on their success.

The Lady Cougars basketball team finished with an 11-3 conference record, going 26-5 overall and winning an NTJCAC Conference Co-Championship. The Collin men’s basketball team finished second in the conference with an 8-4 record and went 21-10 overall, battling their way into the semi-final round of the NJCAA Region V Tournament.

The men’s team will host Trinity Valley Community College and Navarro College in scrimmages on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Cougars will face the TVCC Cardinals at noon and the Navarro Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. at the Plano Campus basketball courts. The following Saturday, they will host Paul Quinn College starting at 1 p.m.

The Cougars’ regular season begins at home vs. Tomball College, Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.

The Lady Cougars will travel to the Frisco Field House for a pair of scrimmage tournaments on back-to-back Saturdays, Oct. 13 and 20, before hosting an exhibition game, Tuesday, Oct. 23 vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Tip-off for that game is 5 p.m.

The Lady Cougars will host Paris Junior College for its first official game on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. and Eastern Oklahoma State College Saturday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m.

Entry to games is free for students, staff and faculty. All others pay just $3. Get the full schedules for all of Collin College’s teams and the latest news about Cougar Athletics at athletics.collin.edu.
