Free Collin College Concerts Planned for November

October 19, 2018 – From classical symphonic music to vocal performances of current pop hits, Collin College’s November concert series has just the thing for any music lover. All music department concerts are free and will be held in the John Anthony Theatre at Collin College’s Plano Campus unless otherwise noted.

 

Chamber Choir w/ Collin Dance
Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.

The Collin College Chamber Choir is a select choir devoted to performance of an eclectic repertoire of choral literature for mixed voices.

 

Instrumental Jazz
Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.

The Jazz Lab Band performs both traditional and contemporary jazz literature. The Expressions Combo features repertoire that includes bebop, Latin and fusion standards.

 

Guitar Artists Showcase
Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in THE ARTS gallery

This performance will feature the top classical guitar students at Collin College as soloists and spotlight music from the Renaissance to the Twentieth Century.

 

OneSound Pop A Cappella
Friday-Saturday, Nov. 16-17 at 7 p.m.

Fresh off their success at the ICCA – that’s the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella – quarterfinals, OneSound will perform current pop songs and hit songs from the past.

 

Voix Apothéose: Collin Voice Student Honor Recital
Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

This concert will feature a selection of vocal soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

 

Guitar and Keyboard Ensembles
Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.

The guitar ensemble will feature a small group of guitarists performing traditional classical repertoire and the keyboard ensemble will feature traditional piano literature for multiple performers with arrangements for electronic keyboard.

 

Symphonic Wind & String Ensembles
Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble & String Ensemble will perform a spring concert of traditional and contemporary wind band music. The String Ensemble is a small group of string players performing traditional classical repertoire, and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble focuses on the study and performance of traditional and contemporary symphonic wind band literature.

 

Expressions Vocal Jazz
Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

Collin College’s oldest established singing group, Expressions, will perform its fall vocal jazz show along with a rhythm section. The concert will feature jazz and blues standards as well as exciting new arrangements by Kerry Marsh and others.
