March 08, 2019 – Collin College’s Dignity Initiative will host gender violence panel discussions and community organization presentations from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at the Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 East Spring Creek Parkway, and on Wednesday, April 3 at the Frisco Campus Conference Center, 9700 Wade Blvd.
According to Sherry Rhodes, Collin College communication studies professor, the community organization presentations will address the alarming increase in gender violence as well as showcase available community resources and provide information about victims’ legal rights. Frisco Campus panel members include Kim Gerber, Collin College psychology professor, Elizabeth Ferons from The Family Place and Beth Leos from Hope’s Door/New Beginnings. Plano Campus panel members include Cheri Jack, Collin College associate dean of students, Melanie Sherman, Collin College associate professor of sociology, and Sheyla Camacho from Hope’s Door/New Beginnings.
