Nov. 21, 2019 – Collin College has been recognized with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 22nd year in a row by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The certificate is the highest form of recognition offered in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The honor is based on an organization’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), which must satisfy generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements in financial reporting. A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is awarded in cases where an impartial panel determines that the organization’s CAFR meets the industry’s highest standards, including clear communication of the organization’s financial story.
