Career Corner: Vet Tech

Welcome to Career Corner, a regular feature in Cougar News which highlights workforce programs at Collin College. Today, we are looking at the Veterinary Technology program.

If you have a passion for caring for animals, this career may be a perfect fit. Licensed veterinary technicians provide client education, administer medication, perform laboratory diagnostics, assist with surgeries and dental cleanings, monitor anesthesia, and problem solve.

According to Dr. Sabrina Cummings, Collin College director of Veterinary Technology, students in this program will become proficient in essential skills dictated by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

“We are thrilled to offer information sessions for the new Veterinary Technology program,” Cummings said. “This program offers cutting-edge technology and hands-on opportunities in an innovative learning environment.”

This brand-new program will be available at the college’s Wylie Campus. The college is holding a virtual Veterinary Technology information session from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
