journal

Why do you teach?: I teach to empower. I love to empower students with knowledge of politics and government. Especially those who say they “hate” politics and government.

Where did you go to school: I did most of my schooling in Southern Mississippi and my doctoral work at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Favorite thing about teaching: When a student experiences that “Aha” moment

Favorite Music or Artist: I listen mostly to gospel/inspirational music.

Favorite Food: My favorite food is actually a dessert — lemon cake.

Dream Vacation: To travel around Europe with my entire family (husband, children, mother, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews…everyone!)

What’s your Nerdiest Quality? I love playing Jeopardy on Playstation.

Biggest Accomplishment: The biggest accomplishment outside of having my son was obtaining my doctorate.

Favorite Sport: NFL

If you could have any talent what would it be and why?: I would probably want to be an artist, so my students can recognize my drawing of the state of Texas.
