Collin College Dental Hygiene Students Achieve 100 Percent Pass Rate on National and Regional Boards

May 24, 2019 – Collin College’s dental hygiene students recently received a 100% pass rate on their national and regional boards. Located at the college’s McKinney Campus (Central Park), 2200 W. University Drive, the dental hygiene program accepts 16 students each year. Students graduating from the program are awarded associate of applied science degrees and are eligible for national and regional licensing examinations.

According to Terra Newingham, first vice president of the Greater Collin Dental Hygienist’s Association, the national boards are rigorous.

“Congratulations to Collin College and the second-year dental hygiene students for the 100% pass rate on the national boards,” Newingham said. “These students have spent hours studying for this challenging exam, and they are one step closer to becoming registered dental hygienists. We are always here to support them and look forward to a new class of colleagues this summer.”

According to Christine McClellan, dental hygiene director, the college’s nationally-accredited dental hygiene program offers students clinical rotations at area hospitals, assisted living centers, and oral surgeon and private periodontists’ offices. The program also provides a host of exceptional opportunities incuding enhanced learning experiences via state-of-the-art equipment and imaging technology as well as research and publishing options.

“Students in our program have the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University while they are earning their Collin College associate degree,” McClellan said.
