CONCERTS CLOSE OUT FALL

The Collin College Music Department will present a series of concerts over the next few months at the Spring Creek Campus. The free concerts, which will be held in the John Anthony Theatre unless otherwise noted, are listed below. Click here for a full schedule.

November

  • Guitar Artist Showcase – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7 in Room B187
  • Guitar Ensemble – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14
  • Keyboard Ensemble – 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15 – This group features Collin’s piano majors performing duets from the Romantic era. For more information contact ballison@collin.edu.
  • OneSound a cappella pop – 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18 – This select audition-only acappella pop group performs covers of current trendy pop songs as well as arrangements.  They also mix in pop songs from the past, but give them a fresh feel.  This group performed at the quarterfinals of the ICCA regionals last year and hopes to return this year.   • Opera Theatre Ensemble – 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 20
  • Winds & Strings Ensembles – 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29 – These two ensembles will perform separate programs back to back including music from the Baroque to the present. For more information contact Gevans@collin.edu.
  • Chamber Choir – 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30 – This mixed choir select group with both non-majors and Collin’s voice majors will perform Madrigals from the 16th century, as well as some modern madrigals from the 20th and 21st century.   For more information contact kmorgan@collin.edu.

December

  • Expressions vocal jazz – 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 – These singers will perform with their rhythm section, Expressions’ Combo, tunes from the 40s through the present.  The show will include fresh fun arrangements of some jazz standards as well as some contemporary songs with a jazzy harmonic language.  Soloists and the combo will also perform in a pre-show concert at 6:30 p.m. For more information contact kmorgan@collin.edu.
  • New Music Ensemble 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4 in Room B187 – This student ensemble composes and performs experimental avante garde electronic and contemporary music for mixed media as well as traditional instruments.   For more information contact cmorgan@collin.edu.
  • Solo Guitar Concert – 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the Living Legends Conference Center
  • Commercial Voice – 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7 in Room B187 – From the teaching studio of our new commercial voice instructor, Trenton Hull, these singers will perform covers, arrangements and original pop and jazz tunes.  For more information contact  tkhull@collin.edu.
