Career Exploration Fair is More than a Job Fair

April 11, 2019 ­– Sharpen your job-seeking skills, meet industry professionals, examine possible careers and begin developing a plan for the futures at Collin College’s Career Exploration Fair, Thursday, April 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Frisco Campus Conference Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Career Exploration Fair is more than just a job fair. Attendees can learn solid career advancement advice and explore potential career choices while also discussing potential job opportunities with local business leaders.

This year’s fair will include guest speakers Nickquolette Barrett and Dean Lindsay, with presentations at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Barrett will present a primer on LinkedIn’s benefits. Lindsay’s talk is titled “How to Achieve Big PHAT Goals.”

A vendor fair with dozens of local and national businesses will kick off at 11 a.m. alongside “campfire sessions” providing 20-minute informal discussions on topics including leadership, soft skills for business, “The First Job Interview,” and dressing for job interview success.Attendees can also get a professional photo for use on LinkedIn at the fair’s “head shot booth.”

“The Career Exploration Fair provides applicable skills and provides connections that are beneficial for any job-seeker,” Dean Karen Musa, the fair’s organizer, said. “Our attendees come away with important information that will help in their future careers.”

The Frisco Campus is located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. Attendees should dress in business attire, be prepared to visit with human resource professionals and recruiters, and bring plenty of copies of their current résumé.

Collin College serves more than 55,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which has an enrollment of 3,500 each year in partnership with The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
