Finalists for ROSE Award, Outstanding Faculty Awards Set

The finalists for the Recognition of Service and Excellence (ROSE) Awards were announced at a ceremony June 20. These staff award nominees join faculty member finalists for the Outstanding Professor and Associate Professor awards announced in April. Winners of each honor will be announced at All College Day, Aug. 16.

The ROSE Award honors staff members who consistently demonstrate Collin College’s core values via service to the college, staff, students and/or the community. Collin’s highest staff recognition, is given to one full-time staff member and one part-time staff member.

“If you stop to think about the people we have working here, it is a great award because your peers are nominating you, saying that you are something special, something out of the ordinary,” Staff Council President Jackie Langford said, introducing the nominees.

Finalists for the full-time employee ROSE Award were: Brandy Anderson, Becky Hessing, Nancy Huff, Cathleen Rangel, and Joan Reese. Part-time employee finalists were: Vinna Cook, Christina Haslage and Amanda Lunn. 

The ceremony also honored the other nominees for the ROSE Award who were not chosen: Ann Blackman, Melissa Blackmore, Rhonda Bolton, Deanna Brown, Kasie Dodd, David Drane, Vernon Hadnot, Gerald Hamon, Carol Harber, Alex Johnson, Armand Johnson, Scott Knight, Diana Kollman, Jennifer McDermott, Karen Murph, Tammy O’Bier, Phillip Parker, Alicia Phillips, Mindy Tomlin, Carol White, Cindy White, Kamilah Willis, and Margaret Woldu.

The finalists for 2019 Outstanding Professor and Associate Professor were named at the April 23 Board of Trustees meeting. Outstanding Professor Finalists are: Paul “Levi” Bryant, Meghan Cardwell-Wilson, Ceilidh Charleson-Jennings, Hilla “Jessica” Hargis, and Gordan O’Neal. Outstanding Associate Faculty finalists are: William “Andy” Baker, Benedict Nguyen Lee, Susan Owens, Angie Switzer, and Mutryce Williams.
