Feb. 4, 2020 – Explore China with Collin College’s next Passport to the World lecture at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the Living Legends Conference Center at the Plano Campus (Spring Creek).
Henry Canfield, a college and career counselor, worked as an educator in China at the university and K-12 levels from 2004 to 2017. He spent time in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province and in Shanghai. Canfield will share his experiences and the cultural lessons he learned in China, and he will also discuss the country’s history and its current cultural climate.
This event is being presented in collaboration with the college’s 2019-2020 Book-in-Common, “The Leavers” by Lisa Ko. The book tells the story of a Chinese immigrant mother and son in New York, forcibly separated and struggling with the realities of immigrant life.
