Cameryn Clackler, a student assistant of the Theater Department at Collin College, has been named the 2020 Collin College Student Employee of the Year. She was named the winner in a virtual presentation on April 20.

Clackler helped run the box office and also served as house manager for the college’s theater productions. She also provided leadership by serving as a student supervisor and providing training for volunteers and ushers. Clackler was described as the voice and face of the Collin Theatre Center.

“When we have shows, if the patrons have questions or problems, Cameryn is the one who answers and deals with those patrons with grace and ease,” Theater Professor Gail Cronauer said. “Cameryn has taken the initiative to learn whatever she needed to do her job more effectively and to discover ways that she can incorporate her experience into her future goals.

Clackler will receive her Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in theater. Clackler also appeared as Amanda in Collin’s production of The Glass Menagerie, worked in the costume shop and served as an officer in Collin Theatre Cares.

She added that the opportunity to work with people has helped her to be more prepared when communicating and problem solving.

The Student Employee of the Year award is selected by the Staff Council and the Student of the Year committee to recognize “excellence and extraordinary effort demonstrated by Collin College student employees who exemplify the college’s Core Values of Learning, Service and Involvement, Creativity and Innovation, Academic Excellence, Dignity and Respect, and Integrity.” Other nominees for the Student Employee of the Year award included: Sabrina Rahman, Sara McRae, Nhu Lan Phung, Anika Lakhani, Homer Morano, Parnaz Bagheri, Aaron Meador, Naiymeh Taghizadeh, Samar Rawas, and Janese D. Lawrence Frances.
