Academic Affairs of Collin College has begun accepting submissions for the 2021 Forces Literary Journal. Forces is an annual publication sponsored by the Academic Affairs of Collin College. The publication accepts all contributions of poetry, fiction, photography (black and white, or color), and visual art from members of the Collin College community.
Poetry: Literary and experimental, well-constructed, polished submissions are encouraged and should not exceed 50 lines. Send one to five poems. Each poem should be submitted individually, not as a bundle. Poetry should be single-spaced unless in “concrete” style. Prose-poems are also accepted.
Short Fiction: literary and experimental, well-constructed, polished submissions are encouraged with a 750-word maximum. Dramatic monologues will also be considered. Pay special attention to a developed plot and fresh, concrete language. Short fiction should be double-spaced.
Photography: See Digital Commons website for submission policies; up to five submissions will be considered. Each submission should be individual and not bundled. Please include photo titles.
Visual Art: We will consider original works which can be represented effectively in black and white or full color context and transfer into print effectively. Ceramic, sculpture, as well as paintings and multimedia pieces. Remember to include titles of works. Photos of the works transferred and submitted to the Digital Commons page will be considered. Each should be submitted individually not as a bundle. Limit five submissions per person.
Essays: Personal and literary essays, general interest, personal opinion, criticism, new journalism, or general interest are accepted. Double-space with appropriate word count (1,500 words maximum).
Online submission is now mandatory and can be submitted through the e-commons link online at http://digitalcommons.collin.edu/forces.
In order to complete the online submission, you will need to create an account at the above-mentioned website.
No email or hand-written submissions will be accepted or considered.
Submissions will be accepted through Oct. 15, 2020. Printing and reception will be in Spring 2021.
