June 29, 2020 – Collin College recently appointed new college administrators.
Steve Matthews has been appointed as the new vice president of external relations. Matthews serves as a key member of the district president’s cabinet and works to cultivate and enhance awareness of the college and the college’s relationships within the community and at all levels of government.
Matthews has a long history of civic engagement including volunteer roles at Collin College. He is a past chairman of the Allen, Frisco and Plano chambers of commerce and a graduate of Leadership Allen, Leadership Plano, Leadership Richardson and Leadership North Texas. Matthews worked for Atmos Energy for nearly three decades, most recently as the company’s director of governmental and public affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and a graduate certificate in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University. He is currently completing a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Organizational Development at the University of Texas at Dallas.
Chris Eyle has been appointed as the new vice president of facilities and construction. He is responsible for all aspects of facilities operations and construction projects, as well as facilities planning and project development.
Eyle has had a long career serving in the United States Air Force from 2000 until present. Most recently he served as a base civil engineer in Colorado. Eyle holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona, a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University in Alabama, and a Master of Arts in Strategy and National Security Studies from Naval War College in Rhode Island.
Collin College serves more than 59,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates, including new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity degrees.
