MLK Power Leadership Breakfast To Be Held Virtually

Jan. 6, 2022 – This year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast will be held virtually. A pre-recorded program with a format similar to past years will go live on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 9 a.m.

The theme for this year is “It’s Time to DREAM – Dreaming. Reaching. Educating. Aspiring. Motivating.”

“This year’s theme represents a rededication to the work and ideals of Dr. King. Even though the fullness of Dr. King’s dream has not been realized, we must stand firmly committed and rooted in such dream-worthy ideals of freedom, equality, justice, and love in order to bring into fruition the reality of such inclusive principles,” said Dr. Millie Black, event co-chair and professor of political science at Collin College.

Rev. Christopher Lee, associate pastor of Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in Richardson, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. Juanita Austin, a retired 24-year academic dean at Collin College, former member of the MLK breakfast planning committee, and founder of the MLK Unity Scholarship, will provide remarks during scholarship presentations.
