Collin College Appoints Dr. David Peruski New Dean Of Nursing

David Peruski, Dean of Nursing

Collin College is excited to welcome Dr. David Peruski, the newly appointed Dean of Nursing. Leading with his extensive experience and dedication to students, Dr. Peruski is eager to continue the Collin College Nursing programs’ standard of excellence. The college holds the distinction of being a National Center of Excellence in Nursing Education for Enhancing Student Learning and Professional Development. Collin College was the first in the state to win the designation when the National League for Nursing (NLN) awarded it to the college originally in 2011. The college’s Center of Excellence designation was renewed in 2015 and again in 2020.  It is one of just four nursing programs in Texas to earn that honor. The designation will continue through 2024.

A Midwest native, Dr. Peruski lived in Michigan until his recent move to Texas. He is an alumnus of Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan where he obtained both his Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing. Dr. Peruski continued his education earning a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University in Michigan.

Joining the Army Nurse Corps, Dr. Peruski began his career while stationed at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. His clinical experience includes neonatal, neurosurgical, cardiovascular ICU, and all areas of adult medical/surgical nursing.

His wide-ranging knowledge led him to Delta College, also in Michigan, where he began his higher education career as an adjunct and full-time faculty member within nursing. He served the college as a nursing program coordinator, health programs division chair, and an academic dean overseeing eight divisions within the college including general education and occupational areas.

Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Peruski returned to his alma mater of Saginaw Valley State University where he most recently worked as acting assistant dean of Health and Human Services.

“I’m very excited to join Collin College and continue the outstanding work being done by committed students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Peruski. “I’m looking forward to further position the Collin College Nursing program to be a source of excellence in developing the best future caregivers in health care.”

Under his direction, the Collin College nursing program will continue to offer quality higher education and the support students need to achieve their educational goals.
