Power Leadership Breakfast to Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy

Jan. 3, 2023 – The 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast will return to Collin College’s Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center for the first time in two years, Saturday, Jan. 14, beginning at 8 a.m. This annual celebration of Dr. King’s life and work is free and open to the public.

This year’s breakfast theme is “Recharge, Reset, Renew Dr. King’s Way.” The breakfast will include presentations and student performances sharing Dr. King’s message, along with a panel of respected community leaders discussing how everyone can move that message forward.

After two years of honoring Dr. King’s message online, this year’s breakfast is the first to return to the Living Legends Conference Center. Organizers expect a large turnout, so attendees should plan to arrive early if possible.

“We are so blessed to be able to come together in the spirit of renewal at this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Power Leadership Breakfast,” said Dr. Millie Black, event co-chair. “After two years of virtual celebrations, this will be a chance to reenergize our community’s efforts to create a more loving, just, and equitable world while inspiring the leaders of tomorrow. We look forward to a chance to fellowship and renew Dr. King’s message.”

Collin College’s Facebook account will also stream the event live for those who cannot attend. Visit www.facebook.com/collincollege to watch.

A business and information expo will take place immediately following the Power Leadership Breakfast in the Plano Campus atrium. The public is invited to visit with local vendors and nonprofit organizations. The Plano Campus is located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway.

The public is also encouraged to attend the MLK Community Event on Sunday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. in the Williams High School Auditorium, 1818 18th Street in Plano.
