July 9, 2018 – Collin College recently unveiled a redesigned website featuring a modern, responsive design and a more intuitive layout.
“The site focuses first on the prospective student,” said Chief Public Relations Officer Tom Delamater. “What information are they looking for, and what do they want to know about Collin?”
The site, www.collin.edu, provides users with “Four Steps to Registration,” information about the college’s eight locations and a section offering answers to frequently asked questions about admissions, advising, financial aid and student orientation, all on the home page. Users also have access to the college calendar and recent college news from that page.
The full site features information for students, faculty, alumni, donors and community members, including a listing of current job openings at the college. The site’s responsive design adapts to whatever device is being used – smart phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer – for easier reading.
“Our website receives more than 13 million page views a year, so we wanted to simplify the process of finding important information as quickly as possible,” Manager of Web Communications Rajesh Michael said.
The redesign took a little over a year and involved the college’s executive team, campus and department leadership, and more than 250 college employees who have editing responsibilities for their respective pages. Additional features will be rolled out throughout the 2018-19 academic year.
Collin College serves more than 53,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which serves 3,200 additional students each year in partnership with The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
