September 5, 2018 – Collin College’s Auteur Film Series will screen Frida, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center.
Based on a true story, the film chronicles the life of surrealist painter Frida Kahlo, whose art was inspired by her Mexican heritage and her revolutionary political views. This Oscar-winning film stars Salma Hayek in the title role, and organizers believe it exemplifies this year’s Auteur Film Series theme, “Mavericks and Misfits: Outsiders in Cinema.” Other films in the series include Pale Rider and The Imitation Game.
All screenings are free and open to the public. Doors open 30 minutes before the film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. Each film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Collin College faculty and staff.
