Your life made simpler at Collin
Your paper is almost done. Good thing—since it is due tomorrow. It is 11 p.m., the library is closed, and you forgot about the bibliography. Who can remember all those rules for M.L.A.?! Oh, and the book you checked out is due … today, and you don’t want to pay another fine.
No worries. You’ve got this.
The library may be closed, but you have access to two citation generators: KnightCite and Citation Builder. You can also renew your books online, if they are not on hold.
- To access the citation builders, log onto CougarWeb, click on “Library” and then click on “Writing a Paper” and select the citation builder you want to use.
- To renew your book, while you are in CougarWeb, click on the “Library Catalog” link, go to “My Account” then “My Record” then “Items out” and “Renew the Selected Items.”
The next morning at 7:30 a.m. you wish you could get a quick answer from the librarian, but you don’t have time to call. You have to finish polishing that paper for class.
Fear not.
- Go to https://www.collin.edu/library/ and click on the “Ask A Librarian” link. If the chat is online (typically Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.), you can type your question and get the answer you need.
The paper is done, but you rushed out the door and forgot to bring your calculator. Your math test is in an hour, and you don’t have time to go back home.
You’ve got this, too.
- Stop by the library, and check out a scientific calculator (TI-84 for four hours/TI-83 for five days) for free.
Did you know as a Collin College student you can also …
- get texts sent to you when your books are due. Call the circulation desk (CPC: 972.548.6869; PRC: 972.377.1571; SCC: 972.881.5985) to set it up
- print $30 worth of pages for free at the library each semester
- check out new laptops, so you can work in the library for four hours. Why not check out an external DVD drive while you are at it?
- check out three DVDs for four days for FREE—why not? You deserve a break this weekend after writing that paper, right?!
Special thanks to Stephen Lingrell and Pamela Robinson for details on these Collin College life hacks.
