Visit Cambodia with Passport to the World

June 6, 2019 – Explore the centuries-old temple of Angkor Wat with Collin College’s next Passport to the World lecture, June 20 at 11 a.m. at the college’s Plano Campus Living Legends Conference Center (Spring Creek). The event is free and open to the public.

Join Professor Denise Brown to learn about the temples of the Angkor area, which were built in 12th Century Siem Reap of modern Cambodia. Originally built as a Hindu temple by the Khmer Empire and later used by Buddhist monks, the temples are architectural marvels that have survived industrialization, war, and attempts by the surrounding jungle to reclaim them. Professor Brown will discuss her journey to the Angkor sites and to other temples in Bangkok, Thailand.

Passport to the World is a free event series led by Collin College faculty and staff members who have traveled to a variety of global locations and share their newly-acquired knowledge about the local history, different cultures, art forms, architecture, music, religions, political systems, and more.

Collin College’s Plano Campus is located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. For more information about Passport to the World, visit www.collin.edu/academics/passport or contact Dr. Dallie Clark at dclark@collin.edu.
