The Auteur Film Series Presents Selma

Jan. 30, 2020 – Collin College’s Auteur Film Series will screen Selma at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Angelika Film Center in Plano. The screening is free and open to the public.

Selma is a dramatization of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1965 voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. The Oscar-winning film was directed by Ava DuVernay and stars David Oyelowo in the lead role.

This screening is the fourth of the Auteur Film Series’ 2019-2020 “Cinema of the Body Politic: Civic Action on Screen” selections. The film is being presented in conjunction with African American History Month and coincides with Collin College’s year-long 35thanniversary celebration. Upcoming films in the series include Blame it on Fidel and Iron Jawed Angels.

Doors open 30 minutes before the film begins, and seating is limited. Some material may not be suitable for all audiences. The film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Collin College faculty and staff.
